Totoro Forest Project

The Totoro Forest Project is a fundraising exhibition/auction to support the non-profit organization, "Totoro No Furusato National Fund", established by Oscar winning filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki. The event will feature more than 200 pieces of original art especially created by internationally acclaimed artists in the fields of animation, comic books, illustration, and fine arts. The benefit auction will be held at Pixar Animation Studios in Emeryville on September 6th 2008, its entire proceeds going to The Totoro Forest National Fund.
A high quality Catalogue/Book featuring all the amazing artwork is also going to be available at the event. Lastly a selection of the auction's artwork will be featured as a special exhibition at the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco running from September 20th to December 7th.

I really want to see a giant robot movie, walking and fighting in the city. Transformer is not bad but still not "giant" enough. Something bigger and more powerful and feel real.

I've just found out that Korea studio is making a giant robot movie called Robot_Taekon V . It is 90% looks like Mazinger Z. I don't like the design but the interesting mechanism can always catch my attention.

CASSHERN Sins Trailer

Casshern is one of my favorite Japan hero... I like the last movie's art direction a lot even though the story is too boring for me. Here is the new anime produced by MADHOUSE, I hope someday in the future we can make a CG version of Casshern!

天空駆けるハリウッド版「鉄腕アトム」

This is the article about ASTROBOY, i found at variety japan. I think this is the first official article after SDCC.

“ASTROBOY”ポスター堂々ヴェール脱ぐ　
「鉄腕アトム」のハリウッド版として製作が進められているフルCGアニメ“ASTROBOY”のポスターがお披露目された。

　香港とロサンゼルスに拠点を置くCGアニメ専門のイマジ･スタジオが製作。監督は、『マウス･タウン　ロディとリタの大冒険』（日本未公開）などのデイヴィッド･バワーズが務めている。

　 物語の舞台は未来都市メトロ･シティ。天才科学者の天馬博士が、事故で亡くした息子の代わりに製造したアストロ・ボーイ（アトム）が、さまざまな困難を 乗り越え親子の“きずな”を深めていくストーリーだ。ポスターは、シルエット風のアトムがジェット噴射で天空へと飛翔していく、意味深ながらも躍動感のあ るデザインだ。

　アトムの声は、『チャーリーとチョコレート工場』などで知られるイギリス人子役フレディ･ハイモアが担当。ほか、天馬博士はニコラス・ケイジ、アトムを引き取ることになるお茶の水博士に『ラブ･アクチュアリー』のビル・ナイ、アトムが売られるサーカスの団長に『プロデュサーズ』のネイサン･レインらと、声優陣も豪華だ。

　アフレコも順調のようで、バワーズ監督によると「半分ぐらい終了している」という。アトムのビジュアルイメージは、原作者の手塚治虫の長男・手塚眞らと話し合いながら決めていった。

　公開予定は2009年。日本では根強い人気を誇るキャラクターだけに、期待度はさらに高まりそうだ。
