Imagi Internal Newsletter

copyright © imagi studios all rights reserved.

The 1st issue of the Imagi Magazine released !

This is the cover of
"Pipline", the internal Newsletter of Imagi studios. But I think it more looks like a magazine. This is bi-lingo, with Chinese and English. Images of AstroBoy and Gatchaman is not from the movie, those are designed for internal/marketing teaser only. I like the cover a lot, i like the Mascot sculpture feeling a lot...and the heading of hard copy is printed in sliver, it looks very good even though we forgot the Spot UV coating on Astroboy and G-1.

By "internal", I think that it's full of prohibited informations ... and it will cost a lot of "postal" money ^_^'

Seriously, I'm astonished by the fact that it's sculpture ... well done !!

Very nice designs, though.

"Near the end of God of War 2, it was definitely time to do something different. I learned from a good friend Charles Lee that Imagi was making "Gatchaman". This was a dream project for me ever since I was a little kid running in the back streets of Taiwan as G1 (the leader of the Gatchaman team), protecting our neighborhood from alien invasion. This old 70's cartoon was called "Battle of the Planets" in the US, or G-Force. I loved it... I got to help envision Gatchaman for our times. I joined Imagi for about a year and a half---worked on some "look of picture" images, but mostly spent time designing the characters. The original vision for the film was fun and a bit edgy---appealed to me. The project's been through lots of changes, rewrites (like any film), ended up with a different director recently. The vision's changed since I first joined, and seems to be going towards a younger Power Rangers audience---I wanted to see a Gatchaman that I would love to see, and didn't want to see it go this direction, so I departed from Imagi and took an Art Directing/Character Designing gig on Thundercats.

Thundercat's is another old cartoon that's making it's way to film...hoooooooo! hehe---sorry, couldn't help myself. The show also made an impression on me as a kid, maybe not quite the way Gatchaman did, but none the less, it took a good chunk of my after school hours. Currently, this is keeping me busy, along with some other projects on the side, which I can't mention yet. I still owe Gnomon some DVD's for their collection, so that's another project that's on my current to-do list. All this to say that I've been slacking on my blogging. Sorry guys, gotta keep the work going..."

Is Gatchaman going to be more kid friendly now?

I believe Monroe quit, since Imagi has changed the movie so much from the original, why does Imagi feel compelled to kiddify their projects, first the proposed TMNT sequel and now Gatchaman, is Gatchaman still even PG-13? I thought

yeah...I've lost any interest right now with this subject. We haven't heard any word of who will be the new director, we don't know if the movie is going to be some Kiddy lollipop power ranger movie, we don't know what writers are involved now (which is very important for any movie) and if the movie will be a rush job for completion in 2009.. Its not good to keep fans out of the loop. companies should assure their fans that things are okay.. Imagi really hasn't and I really hope they get that soon.

Andrew

I'm not saying I will not support Imagi... I'm just saying I'm disappointed and right now there is nothing that they can do to get me excited.. When the trailer comes out, then we will see

Relax guys. I'm sure there are certain things Felix can't talk about, as well as things that are really not meant for us average people to know. Clearly we all have out own preferences as to how movies like this will turn out. It's great to know ahead of time, but whether we're told all the details or not it doesn't really change the fact that this movie is just going to be what it is when it comes out. I like knowing all the scoops too and I understand there's a lot to be concerned with in regard to this movie, but sometimes it's best just to see what develops.
