"Gatchaman" Live-Action Movie Suits on display in Shibuya, Tokyo

"To advertise the upcoming release of the Gatchaman movie, Toho has the newly designed team’s suits out in public display in Shibuya, Tokyo.

If you are in Tokyo any time soon, you can go see them outside the 109 Men’s department store building in Shibuya, located a two minute walk from the train station. "

To be frank, I really don't like the Suit design, it looks like cheap and not Gatchaman to me, all the iconic bird features are gone! why?

Gatchaman is scheduled for release August 24  in Japan. Here’s the official description of the film, which is based on a Seventies TV series. You can learn more on the official site.

Set in the near future, Gatchaman follows the story five special agents of the International Science Organization in Tokyo, as they try to protect the world from the mysterious terrorist group who call themselves Galactor. With technology far surpasses that of humans, Galactor has declared war on the entire world and has already subjugated half of it. Trained to draw out the power from the mysterious crystal-like object called a “stone,” our five heroes will be called “Gatchaman.”

Live Action GATCHAMAN (aka BATTLE OF THE PLANETS, G-FORCE) is coming in 2013

A live-action film adaptation from the production company Nikkatsu and the distributor TOHOAnext summer of The classic Tatsunoko Productions science-fiction hero anime Science Ninja Team Gatchaman is coming.

Director Toya Sato (live-action Grave of the Fireflies, Sexy Voice and Robo, Kaiji, Gokusen) will begin shooting the film on October 15. Yūsuke Watanabe (20th Century Boys, Gantz, Bloody Monday, 2013 Dragon Ball Z film) wrote the script, and Shinji Aramaki (Appleseed films) is designing the characters.

Sato Toya - who previously directed the live action version of Grave Of The Fireflies - will direct with Returner and Always director Yamazaki Takashi - also one of Japan's premiere VFX men - handling special effects. Expect the scope to be massive as early reports say this will include more effects work than did Nikkatsu's previous live action version of Yatterman, which included over 1300 digital shots. Matsuzaka Tori (Samurai Sentai Shinkenger) takes the lead as Ken with Gouriki Ayame, Suzuk Ryoheii, Ayano Gou, and Hamada Tatsuomi rounding out the team.

Tori Matsuzaka (.hack//The Movie, live-action Kyō, Koi o Hajimemasu, Samurai Sentai Shinkenger, Kamen Rider Decade) will star as Ken, the head of the eponymous team. Gō Ayano (second-in-command Jō), Ayame Gōriki (explosive yoyo-wielding Jun), Tatsuomi Hamada (youngest member Jinpei), and Ryōhei Suzuki (main pilot Ryū) round out the cast.
