Sculpture + Canvas = 3D Paintings by Shintaro Ohata
Artist Shintaro Ohata Seamlessly Blends Sculpture and Canvas to Create 3D Paintings When first viewing the artwork of Shintaro Ohata up close it appears the scenes are made from simple oil paints, but take a step back and you’re in for a surprise. Each piece is actually a hybrid of painted canvas and sculpture that blend almost flawlessly in color and texture to create a single image. The cinematic figures are sculpted from polystyrene while the backgrounds are made from traditional painting techniques.
Artist Statement:
"Born in Hiroshima, 1975.
Shintaro Ohata is an artist who depicts little things in everyday life like scenes of a movie and captures all sorts of light in his work with a unique touch: convenience stores at night, city roads on rainy day and fast-food shops at dawn etc. His paintings show us ordinary sceneries as dramas. He is also known for his characteristic style; placing sculptures in front of paintings, and shows them as one work, a combination of 2-D and 3-D world. "

Lucy Skull by Mike Pelletier

In 2011 I was invited to create a piece for an exhibition called "Ctrl-Z" curated by 3d artist Eric Van Straaten. This was a group exhibition of artworks created by various 3d printing processes.
The model of the skull was generated from a friend's dental tomography scan. The form of the object was created by creating an array of copies of the skull, where each successive copy of the skull is scaled, rotated, and moved. The skull starts at life size at the front and ends up rotated 180 degrees and two times larger than life at the back.

3D Painting by Gerry Judah
"Judah creates an abstracted and disturbing aesthetic that is both mellifluous and pertinent..."

By constructing models of buildings on canvases, the English artist Gerry Judah manages to deconstruct the sets, creating an apocalyptic environment on these creations. Impressive works to discover in pictures and video later in the article.

Surreal 3D Sculptures by Nick Ervinck
Amazing surreal sculptural work exploring boundaries between different media by Belgium based contemporary visual artist Nick Ervinck (1981).

He creates installations, sculptures, workdrawings, animated films and keeps on pushing the boundaries of 3D printing, which is becoming more and more the technology of choice, because it allows to manufacture forms and shapes that cannot be fabricated in any other way. He participated in many individual projects and group shows, received several awards and “signal yellow” become his trademark.

Type-Writer-Parts Robot
These awesome, full-scale, anatomically correct human figures art created by Jeremy Mayer! Jeremy disassemble typewriters and then reassemble them into figures. He doesn't solder, weld, or glue these assemblages together- the process is entirely cold assembly.
